Confirmation Preparation

Preparation for the sacraments, including Confirmation, is not grade specific and involves preparation in addition to grade level Religious Education classes. Please note: in 2011-2012, students preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation will attend their grade-level Religious Education classes as well as monthly Confirmation sessions.

Young people who have been baptized and are partaking of the Eucharist and have regularly attended religious education classes typically prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation in the 8th Grade. However, while there may be "typical" ages at which children prepare for each sacrament, reception of sacraments is determined by a child's readiness, not age. The Pastor and Director of Religious Education will consult with parents and catechists to determine the type of preparation required for children who have not participated consistently in the parish religious education program, and for children beyond the usual age established by the Archdiocese for the sacrament.

Families requesting sacramental preparation for their child are asked to mark their Religious Education registration form accordingly so that additional information can be provided. Please note that there is a separate materials fee for sacramental preparation programs. Additional details will be provided at the candidate & parent meetings.
