If Montgomery County Public Schools are closed, and when schools close early, Religious Education classes (including FRED) are also canceled. This applies to Sunday classes as well if Montgomery County Public Schools announces cancelation of weekend school activities.

In the event that Religious Education classes need to be canceled when the public schools do not close early, we have two ways to communicate cancelation information:

1. An announcement will be posted through the online emergency messaging service provided by "School's Out." You can access this information in two ways:

a) Go to the School's Out website www.schoolsout.com and click the link, "Find Your School." The Religious Education Program is listed under "private schools" as "St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church - Religious Education Program and FRED." Clicking on our program name will open the page that shows our status and/or cancelation announcement.

b) If you wish, you may also sign up to receive free email alerts from School's Out. (Cell phone text messaging alerts can also be sent to you, but you must pay an annual fee for this School's Out Plus service.) Sign up information can be found at the School's Out website: www.schoolsout.com.


2. A cancelation message will be recorded on the Religious Education Office phone: 301-258-9193.

Whenever in doubt, please use your own judgment about local weather and driving conditions and err on the side of safety when making decisions about bringing your child to class.
